The American Society of Irish Medieval Studies (ASIMS) provides a platform for fostering and publicizing the work of scholars around the world who believe that medieval Ireland is essential for understanding the medieval world at large. Its mission is to develop Irish medieval studies as an academic discipline in North America and foster innovative trans-Atlantic collaborations.

ASIMS is proud to stand with the Medieval Academy of America and other scholarly medieval associations condemning the misappropriation of the medieval past for the purposes of racist rhetoric.

The Executive Board of the American Society of Irish Medieval Studies (ASIMS) joins our international sister learned societies in the US and around the world in opposing any government’s threat against cultural heritage sites in Iran. There are 24 UNESCO World Heritage sites in Iran. Cultural sites are protected under international law.
